The challenge
It is increasingly recognised that good water stewardship and management at the catchment or watershed level is key to a sustainable landscape. Water as an asset has not yet been valued sufficiently, leading to overlooked risks across supply and value chains. Water stewardship requires collaboration across water users at catchment level, and is a crucial aspect in addressing sustainability issues like deforestation, drought (and resultant fires), flooding, and growing conflicts over reduced or polluted water resources.
