ISEAL has been working with funding from UK International Development from the UK Government since 2024 as part of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO)’s Investments in Forests and Sustainable Land Use (IFSLU) Phase 2 programme. We previously worked with UK International Development under DFID from 2015-18 through a four-year grant focused on credible standards for responsible business.
Current Programme: Tackling Deforestation through Smallholder Livelihood Improvements and Sustainable Land Use
Programme information
Programme Duration: 2024 - 2028
Programme Amount: £10,229,872 (GBP)
Programme summary
The aim of this programme is to improve smallholder livelihoods and the conditions for sustainable land use by smallholder producers, thereby helping to reduce deforestation. We will do this through identifying, piloting and supporting the scaling and replication of approaches that create conditions for sustainable land use for smallholder producers and communities in forest-dependent, or forest adjacent communities.
ISEAL will work collaboratively with our members and wider networks along two impact pathways:
- Innovating and scaling strategies that improve smallholder income and resilience to climate and market changes, reduce household poverty, and incentivise smallholders to shift to more sustainable production.
- Strengthening the enabling conditions for smallholder market access and corporate commitments to improving livelihoods and sustainable land use.
To achieve our impact objectives, ISEAL will work through a variety of ISEAL programmes, partners and networks including the Innovations Fund, Living Income Community of Practice (LICoP), and the landscapes practitioners’ network.
