With the final trilogue on the Green Claims Directive now postponed to 23 June, ISEAL, together with ECOCERT, FTAO, IFOAM Organics Europe, and TIC Council, has issued a joint statement urging EU policymakers to preserve the ambition and integrity of this vital legislation.
The statement underscores the urgency of adopting a strong and balanced framework that restores trust in environmental communication and effectively tackles greenwashing. It also highlights the risks posed by further delays or efforts to weaken the directive — warning that such moves would erode legal certainty, distort market competition, and jeopardise the EU’s sustainability objectives.
We stand ready to support the institutions in concluding the negotiations responsibly and ambitiously, and in finalising a directive that brings clarity, fairness and trust to environmental claims, empowering both consumers and committed businesses across Europe.
