As the global regulatory landscape around human rights and environmental due diligence evolves, sustainability systems must adapt, and auditors need the right skills and knowledge to address these new requirements effectively.
To support this, Global Standards gGmbH (GOTS), in partnership with UpRights, analysed best practices and created a continuous learning policy and curriculum for GOTS auditors. This became the basis for a comprehensive training programme.
A pilot training brought together 30 auditors from 11 countries to strengthen their understanding of GOTS' due diligence requirements, advanced auditing techniques, and key topics such as workplace pressures, gender dynamics, and cultural awareness. Modules were interactive, practical, and collaborative. The pilot tested the approach, generating valuable feedback that informed its further development and integration within the GOTS system.
By strengthening auditors’ ability to identify and address human rights, social and environmental risks, the initiative aimed to promote more responsible practices across the textile supply chain.
