This project positions FSC as a pilot platform to explore collaboration with RSB and other certification systems, aiming to create a more flexible, efficient, and interconnected approach to sustainability assurance. While the project begins with FSC supply chains and RSB-certified inputs including non-forest bio-based fibres (NFBFs) to advance circular sourcing, its outputs are designed to be scalable across other certification systems and applicable to broader sustainability goals — such as biodiversity, carbon metrics, and social compliance data.
The initiative will develop a practical, scalable framework for unidirectional and mutual recognition between systems. It will also pilot AI-enabled monitoring of partner schemes, automated audit data exchange, and industrial product tests using NFBFs. By demonstrating viable pathways for integrating agricultural by-products into the certification systems of manufactured goods like packaging or fibreboard, the project supports the transition to a circular business model.
