Chinese version of ISEAL Benchmarking Guide released at high-level trade forum in Beijing

The China Council for Promotion of International Trade Commercial Sub-Council (CCPIT-CSC) and ISEAL have strengthened their collaboration with the launch the Chinese version of the Good Practice Guide for Benchmarking Sustainability Systems v. 2《可持续体系基准对标良好实践指南(第二版)》 (the benchmarking guide). The release took place at the 9th Annual China Forum on Standardization of Trade in Services, a leading platform for advancing trade and sustainability dialogues.

The benchmarking guide provides practical guidance for governments, companies, NGOs and sustainability systems to compare voluntary sustainability standards (VSS) and other sustainability initiatives. Globally, benchmarking is a well-established approach for evaluating and differentiating sustainability schemes based on their performance against recognised criteria.

With the growing adoption of VSS and other sustainability systems in China and elsewhere, the availability of the benchmarking guide in Chinese offers an important resource to support credible benchmarking processes. Such processes play a key role in advancing green trade, accelerating decarbonisation, and contributing to broader sustainable development goals.

ISEAL expressed its appreciation to the Chinese experts who contributed to the translation of the benchmarking guide. Their expertise ensured both the accuracy and relevance of the text, helping to make the resource more impactful within the Chinese context.

The launch marks a significant step in strengthening international collaboration on the applicability of credible sustainability systems in China, and supporting China’s efforts to align trade practices with global sustainability goals.
