  3. International Sustainability and Carbon Certification joins as an ISEAL Community Member

ISEAL is pleased to announce that International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) has been approved as an ISEAL Community Member. We look forward to working with them to improve their certification system, which aims to increase transparency and traceability as well as reduce greenhouse gas emissions, both along supply chains.

ISCC is an international certification system for fully traceable, sustainable, deforestation-free and climate-friendly supply chains. ISCC certifications cover sustainable agricultural biomass, biogenic wastes and residues, non-biological renewable materials and recycled carbon-based materials. ISCC's mission is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and bring more sustainability to global markets and supply chains. To date, more than 13000 valid ISCC certificates are in use in more than 140 countries.

Further to approval from the ISEAL Board on 8 May 2024, ISEAL’s Executive Director, Karin Kreider, commented: “I am very pleased to welcome ISCC as an ISEAL Community Member. Tackling the climate crisis is one of the most pressing sustainability challenges of our time. I look forward to working with ISCC and seeing their insights add value to the ISEAL Community.”

Dr Jan Henke, Director ISCC System, said: “We are very pleased to be an ISEAL Community Member and to be able to show our positive impact transparently and to continuously develop and improve our certification system. 

We look forward to sharing experiences and ideas with other ISEAL Community Members and to contributing to the ISEAL Community with our many years of experience in the certification sector.”

They are committed to continually improving their systems and impacts through learning and innovation; collaborating with stakeholders and peers; and are transparent and truthful about how their systems work and how they measure their impacts.

In becoming an ISEAL Community Member, ISCC joins a growing number of well-respected sustainability systems that are driving positive social and environmental change across multiple sectors. ISCC will be working alongside these mission-driven sustainability organisations to continuously improve the effectiveness of their systems and demonstrate impact.

We encourage any organisation developing or operating a sustainability system with a multi-stakeholder approach and a commitment to credible practices to consider becoming an ISEAL Community Member.
