Join ISEAL’s training courses on effective sustainability systems

ISEAL’s training courses are for anyone working in the sustainability sector. We’re excited to kick off the 2025 programme with the ‘Understanding Sustainability Systems course starting 17 June 2025.

Interactive sessions featuring a mix of presentations and discussions will help participants learn the fundamentals of credible sustainability systems.

We will also explore current trends and practical tools to improve sustainability system effectiveness.

Throughout 2025, ISEAL will offer courses on the following topics:

  • Understanding sustainability systems (register here).
  • Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) essentials for sustainability systems (dates to be confirmed).
  • The future of assurance for sustainability systems (dates to be confirmed).

A holistic view of sustainability systems

The term ‘sustainability systems’ refers to a range of organisations and approaches that have common elements: they define sustainability performance levels or improvement pathways; they measure, monitor, or verify performance or progress; and they allow for claims and communications.

The ‘Understanding Sustainability Systems’ course helps participants broaden their understanding of sustainability systems.

The course is ideal for staff who work with sustainability systems, plus those working with companies, NGO’s and policymakers.

Join the course to:

  • Discover the five core elements of sustainability systems: standard-setting, assurance, Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E), claims, and learning.
  • Learn about the different types of sustainability systems and how to compare them.
  • Explore how different parts of a sustainability system link to the core values defined in the ISEAL Credibility Principles.
  • Gain real-world insights into the different approaches sustainability systems use.
  • Apply this learning through course activities and peer engagement.

“This course gave me a comprehensive overview of the essentials and provided great knowledge about ISEAL and its work,” said a previous participant on the Understanding Sustainability Systems course.

Dive deeper into robust systems

Later this year, ISEAL will run the final two courses in its current training portfolio, offering participants a deeper dive into MEL and assurance.

These training courses provide an opportunity to dive into these concepts together with our experts.

The training course, ‘Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning essentials for sustainability systems’ illustrates how to embed robust M&E to strengthen organisational strategy and foster a culture of continual learning.

This includes exploring the complex and evolving nature of M&E, and how it enables sustainability systems to assess whether they are making a difference.

The training course ‘The future of assurance for sustainability systems’ provides an overview of how to design strong assurance systems that deliver credible results.

This includes reflecting on the availability of new data and technology and how this could impact the way sustainability systems approach assurance and risk management. We are committed to sharing our wealth of knowledge, experience and tools to help sustainability systems make a real difference. Learn more about our courses, or register here.
