Scaling impact in a changing environment: insights from the ISEAL Innovations Fund

Recent learning from projects supported by the ISEAL Innovations Fund shows how sustainability systems are responding with proactive approaches to monitor sustainability performance and scale innovations that uphold human rights, improve livelihoods, and support climate action.

Key insights include:

  • shared measurement approaches are essential but must factor in time to build trust.
  • scaling succeeds when innovations are tailored to local conditions and the needs of users.
  • progress on human rights improves when rightsholders are engaged on an ongoing basis.
  • incentives must reflect the realities faced by small-scale producers.
  • tools to support sector decarbonisation only work when collectively recognised.

Together, these lessons show how proactive design, collaboration, and sustained engagement can help sustainability systems strengthen their practices and scale their impact in a changing environment.
