As one of our first ever donors, ISEAL has been working with the Packard Foundation since 2008. The Packard Foundation has provided funding to support a range of projects and programmes including grants focused on climate change and emissions reductions, deforestation free supply chains, living income, assurance, and credible claims and labelling. Under our current grant, we are focused on improving action on equity and livelihoods.
Current Project: Improving understanding and scaling action on equity and livelihoods
Project information
Project Duration: 2023 – 2024
Project Amount: $200,000 (USD)
Project summary
Developed as phase one of a two-stage project addressing systemic challenges impacting producers and supply chains, this initial phase of work aims to share learnings, promote alignment and build understanding on equity and livelihoods, including a specific focus on the seafood sector.
By leveraging the Living Income Community of Practice (LICoP) and ISEAL’s broader network, we have used our organisational expertise on the topic of income improvement to build public and private sector understanding on how to integrate livelihood and equity considerations into operational practices.
The primary outcomes under this project are to:
- Provide clarity and insights on key topic areas related to equity and livelihoods by documenting success of livelihood interventions across three sectors and adapting guidance on considerations for making issues-based claims.
- Share learning and increase understanding of equity and livelihoods within the seafood sector by increasing seafood stakeholder engagement in LICoP and holding seafood sector discussions and webinars on how we understand inequality and how to communicate credibly on inequality and equity.
This project works in compliment to several of our other grants, including our work in the Living Income Community of Practice.
