ISEAL has been a grantee of the Walmart Foundation since 2020, working to address critical sustainability issues at scale including a focus on deforestation, establishing a landscape and jurisdictional network, and supporting supply chain companies to engage in landscape and jurisdictional initiatives.
Current Project: Strengthening Certification Systems to Deliver on Deforestation and Conversion Free (DCF) Goals
Project information
Programme Duration: 2023 - 2025
Programme Amount: $1,500,000 (USD)
Project summary
As due diligence regulations and disclosure expectations around deforestation and conversion free (DCF) supply chains come into force, it is critical that companies can continue to use sustainability systems to support their reporting obligations.
This project aims to reduce deforestation and conversion of natural ecosystems caused by commodity production, and to strengthen human rights in commodity supply chains. ISEAL is facilitating a broad community of sustainability standards to implement practical solutions that strengthen their ability to support companies to meet their DCF goals and regulatory obligations, including:
- Supporting sustainability standards to improve their ability to address DCF and human rights risks in high-risk commodity supply chains, through enhanced auditing practices, improved risk management, and provision of credible DCF data.
- Ensuring companies sourcing commodities that are at risk of being linked to deforestation or conversion of natural ecosystems, can support better production practices using effective sustainability standards.
